Danny Michelson is on a mission to make action sports more accessible and welcoming for everyone. As the founder of Kainetic Adventures, Danny’s goal is to create personalized experiences that help people discover the thrill of outdoor sports, starting with kiteboarding in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey. His vision is to build a community of adventure-seekers, expanding into other exciting sports like foiling, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), mountain biking, and ski mountaineering as the seasons change.

A Passion Fueled by Experience

Fourteen years ago, Danny began his kiteboarding journey as one of the first students at Green Hat Kiteboarding. The experience ignited his love for the sport and shaped his approach to teaching. Now, he’s excited to carry forward the tradition of excellence he experienced at Green Hat by partnering with them. Kainetic Adventures follows the high standards of the Green Hat Kiteboarding school, which has helped hundreds of students become self-sufficient kiteboarders. This partnership allows Danny to offer the best possible learning environment while also providing access to Green Hat’s extensive gear and expertise.

Why Barnegat Bay?

For Danny, Kite Island in Barnegat Bay isn’t just a location; it’s a world-class destination for kiteboarding and a place that perfectly matches his teaching philosophy. With its shallow, flat waters, Barnegat Bay provides one of the safest and easiest places to learn and improve kiteboarding skills. Danny feels fortunate to teach in such a pristine environment, where every lesson is an opportunity to help students harness the wind and “learn to fly.”

Danny’s Approach to Adventure Sports

Danny’s approach to teaching is shaped by his own journey and years of experience on the water. At Kainetic Adventures, he’s designed a four-step kiteboarding program to help students progress quickly and safely:

KITEBOARDING LESSONS

  • Intro Package – Start with the basics of kite control, building foundational skills that save time and money in future lessons.
  • Kiteboarding Level 1 (Lesson #1) – Learn essential skills that prepare you to start riding.
  • Kiteboarding Level 2 (Lesson #2) – Develop riding techniques with hands-on guidance.
  • Supervised Riding Level 3 (Lesson #3) – Focus on advanced techniques, like staying upwind, to become an independent kiteboarder.

Danny knows that everyone learns at their own pace, and his personalized guidance ensures every student feels confident and supported throughout their journey.

Adventures Beyond Kiteboarding

While kiteboarding is a core focus, Danny is passionate about expanding Kainetic Adventures into other disciplines. In the future, look out for foiling, surfing, SUP, mountain biking, and ski mountaineering—each offering a new way to experience the thrill of the outdoors.
