Alabama’s #1 Coastline Kite School

Welcome to Gulf Shores Kiteboarding! I’m Josh, the owner and sole instructor, dedicated to sharing my passion for kiteboarding and kitesurfing with as many people as possible. After leaving my hometown in Seattle, I’ve found the perfect home on Alabama’s coast, and I’m excited to bring my love for kiting to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

About Me and Gulf Shores Kiteboarding

At Gulf Shores Kiteboarding, my mission is to create a safe and enjoyable learning experience for everyone. As a solo instructor, I provide personalized lessons, ensuring that each student gets individual attention. I assist all lessons with a personal watercraft to ensure a safe and efficient experience. Kiteboarding is a rapidly growing sport, and I’m thrilled to be part of its expansion here in Alabama. I plan to grow the company by gradually adding more instructors and opening a brick-and-mortar shop in the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores area to make gear and equipment more accessible.

Why Gulf Shores and Orange Beach?

Gulf Shores and the surrounding areas offer some of the best kiteboarding conditions in the Southeast. The white sandy beaches, coupled with consistent, clean winds, make it an ideal location for both beginners and experienced kiters. From November to May, the winds are particularly favorable, providing a great opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport.

Lesson Locations

Dauphin Island
Dauphin Island is our favorite teaching location. Pelican Cove, with its shallow water and natural land breaks, creates smooth, calm waters—perfect for beginners. This spot works best with southerly winds.
Gulf Shores and Orange Beach
The expansive white sandy beaches between Gulf Shores and Orange Beach offer several excellent spots for lessons. We always prioritize safety, choosing less crowded areas and teaching only when the wind direction is favorable: southerly, southeasterly, southwesterly, east, and west.
Fort Morgan and Mobile Bay
From Fort Morgan to Fairhope, there are numerous locations for lessons depending on the wind direction. When the wind is right, these spots provide great conditions for learning.
